I should’ve known better than to think I could turn things around on a Friday. As you may recall, Friday is my busiest day of the week and I rarely have the energy to accomplish much after the working day’s done. I did at least move things along with the adjustments in the WttW bestiary. I got through all the Magic Beast and Demihuman entries, so that just leaves the regular critters that I hadn’t gotten to on the first pass. Naturally, there will be other adjustments to make so that everything is all squared away. I particularly need to give the Trial Masters a closer look for the sake of game balance.
Anyway, the chapter is getting pushed to next week. Hopefully I can actually get it done. Stay tuned.

Last time I said I was only going to apply the SPD rating of a creature’s primary mode of locomotion toward their total point count, but I realized that was unnecessarily complicated, so I decided the three different SPD ratings ought to be counted together, which of course then requires extensive reworking in the bestiary entries (as each level comes with a block of six points for distribution). Loads of fun.
I did say I was going to get to the actual chapter. There’s a very slim chance of powering through it Friday evening, but if I can make significant progress to the point where I’d just have to do a bit of wrapping up Saturday morning, then I’ll still make my deadline. Can’t hope for too much, but if we have to postpone to next week, so it goes. Stay tuned.

I spent my available time working on Speed ratings in the WttW bestiary. I decided to make separate Speed ratings for land, water and air, but only the Speed rating for the primary mode of locomotion applies to the point count per Character Level. It’s an added complication in an already complicated system, but I this’ll square one circle. I’ve pretty well taken care of the Magical Beasts and Demihumans, but there’s still the common critters to sort out. Fun, fun, fun.
And, yes, I still haven’t worked on the actual chapter. I’ll get to it, I swear. Stay tuned.

I was actually sorting out the issue I mentioned in the last post while I was writing said post. Turns out an extra seven pounds was all it took to compensate for the debuff issue. The speed thing was a bigger job and one that continues now. I decided to set a baseline of one point of Speed being one step per second (a step being 2.5 Axian feet or 73.8cm), but a new issue came up of accounting for how Speed is treated for land, air and sea. I have to decide between having Status Effects to deal with it or else have separate Speed ratings for the three. I’ll have to think on that one for a bit, but for the time being, I’ll be busy adjusting the Speed ratings in the bestiary. Yes, I should be writing the daggone chapter and I swear I’ll be getting to it soon (I say as the halfway point of the week is already coming up on me). Stay tuned.

I mostly played around in the WttW guide, reformatting a bunch of stuff. When I started Chapter 14 of RttW, I realized that my earlier calculations of encumbrance and stamina expenditure didn’t account for the age debuff affecting the kiddos. (Children from age 10-15 have the Adolescent status which means that they can only use 75% of their Strength, Constitution, Intelligence and Spirit.) This is going to take some refiguring to make it work, but it may be as simple as increasing the base bonus from half a stone to a full stone (but only apply it to Players). I’m also wondering if I should adjust the equivalent value for Speed. Right now, one point of Speed is about 4.7kph, which would mean that once you max out your SPD stat, you’d be able to move faster than Mach 1. That may be overdoing it a bit. Things to think about.
I of course need to actually write on the chapter, so good luck to me with that. Stay tuned.

I didn’t get much accomplished beyond the update, but I did transfer the Divine Blessings from the WttW guide into the spreadsheet to make it more easy to manage. I want to do a little more to make the different Blessings unique for each Patron beyond just a boost to a particular weapon type’s Combat Level and the relevant type of magical offense and defense. For instance, for Pyrion and Maara, you get boosts to heat and cold resistance respectively, and for Parthena and Kontos, your rating on the Order-Chaos axis is added to the activation condition besides base Spirit rating. Things to think about. I’ll try not to get too wrapped up in the peripheral materials that I don’t actually get the chapter done. Stay tuned.

It’s a good thing I didn’t have much left to do on Chapter 6 of CoP because I didn’t have a moment of free time until I got home and then I didn’t last long before crashing out, and even with the knowledge that I had even more work waiting for me on the morrow, I was struggling my way half-conscious to try to get through the chapter before dragging myself to bed. I’m pretty well done, though, so it shouldn’t be any problem getting the update out. Stay tuned.

Although I didn’t have any leisure to write at work, once I got home, I found myself having a bit more energy than the past couple evenings, so I thought this would be a fine opportunity to get stuff done. This lasted right until I actually started to focus on writing, when I promptly crashed out yet again. Once I came around, I did pretty well finish the dialog on Chapter 6 of CoP, so I just need to fill in some of the narrative and go back over things. My Fridays are normally rough and I’ve got some extra stuff piled onto my usual load, so we’ll see what happens then. Stay tuned.

I managed to make some decent progress on Chapter 6 of CoP, getting pretty close to finished, I think. Just a little more to go, though I may be doing some reworking upon review. Stay tuned.

I did get somewhere close to quota on Chapter 6 of CoP. Between me conking out and the office productivity specialist thinking that my lucid moments needed to be devoted to paying attention to her, it was a wonder I got as much done as I did. There was a good half page of the letter M that I didn’t quite deem fit to print. Anyway, things are coming along, so I just need to keep at it. Stay tuned.
