WIP Update – 24 Sep 24
I made a little more progress on Chapter 21 of TWH. Would’ve liked to have done more, as always, but progress is progress. More to come, one would hope. Stay tuned.

I made some more progress on Chapter 21 of TWH, getting set up for the main event of the chapter. Something to get excited for, though I haven’t decoded how far I’m willing to go to resolve the situation that’s developing here. I guess that’s something I’ll discover as I go.
In other news, I recently had a burst of inspiration and so I spent a fair bit of time jotting down the ideas I’ve come up with. It actually ties into an earlier idea I had that I started developing further and I’m thinking of tying into a repurposed DnD scenario I was making for my niece that I never got around to using (as we never got past the character creation stage) and an alternative game system I developed when I was trying to make a simpler one than the system I’ve been putting together for the Welcome to the World series. Basically, it’s growing into its own cycle of the Else Arc, but it’s still in an embryonic stage at the moment. I’ll post more as it develops, but I really do need to be focusing on my primary task at the moment. Hopefully I can continue to make steady progress. Stay tuned.
Well, it turned out that I got more into the bunkasai festivities on Friday than I was expecting, so I didn’t get any writing done, but yesterday I did manage to find time to get some more writing on Chapter 21 of TWH done. I still have a ways to go, however. I need to think about whether I want to give it another week or move on to the next cycle. Stay tuned.
I made some respectable progress on Chapter 21 of TWH, mainly because I didn’t do any work-work, but, hey, it’s bunkasai. I doubt I’ll finish the chapter in time for the weekend, but at least I’m moving forward. That’s something. We’ll see how much more I can get done. Stay tuned.
I’m continuing to inch along in Chapter 21 of TWH. Can I finish the chapter before the weekend? I doubt it, but maybe I’ll surprise everyone, myself first of all. Stay tuned.
I made a little progress on Chapter 21 of TWH. Managed to plug some holes in a scene and have things set up to go forward. I’ve got some grading to do and minding of the kiddos, but I hope to make more progress as the week goes on. Stay tuned.
Although literally all I did was write a single sentence, it officially marks the completion of EM3, so I felt that was enough to warrant a post. The current wordcount stands at 52,352, which is well short of the general 75-100K goal, but so long as I continue to be a web novelist, I don’t really need to worry about it that much. Also, if I intend to go for traditional publication, I’ll be attempting it here in Japan, where the rules are different. In fact, were my books to get published as light novels, the longer ones would probably get broken up into two or even three parts. Of course, I actually have to work on getting things translated and polished up to standard first. That’s a concern for another time, though. A more pressing concern is getting something to take EM3’s slot in six weeks. One of many things rolling around in my noggin at the moment. I’ll try not to leave you all waiting so long for my next post. Stay tuned.
Although I haven’t accomplished much, it’s been so long that I really felt that I ought to check in. Technically, I did a little bit of work on Chapter 21 of TWH last Friday, but I didn’t think it was enough to warrant a mention, but I did a little more poking on it and some revisions to the epilogue of EM3. Regarding the latter, I still feel I need a couple more lines to properly close things out. I’ve been rather busy with the start of the new term and haven’t had the time to focus on writing. There’s still quite a bit of work piled up and it’ll take me at least another week until things start to settle down a bit. I’ll try to get some content here with a little more frequency, but I won’t make any promises just yet. Stay tuned.
As you saw on the main page, I managed to finish my work restoring the reviews. If my count is correct, with the ones I’ve been adding since the reconstruction work began, we have a total of 2285 reviews. Remember when I thought I’d be done by Easter? Good times. Anyway, this is one big step out of the way, and now I can turn my attention to the really difficult part: fighting with Drupal to get the site to look the way I want.
The biggest issue I have at the moment is that the way Drupal sets up its themes, it’s very difficult to make little edits and additions. There appears to be layers of redundancy you have to account for and a general opacity to how things work. Overall, I’m fairly happy with the theme I’ve been using, but there are a number of tweaks I want to make and if it’s going to fight me too much on it, I may have to take the long route of building things from the ground up. I’m not exactly eager to do this, but it may be the most efficient course if I want things to look exactly a certain way. Anyway, this is a concern for the days, weeks and months to come. Oh, what joy. In the meantime, maybe I should give the much neglected TWH some love. Stay tuned.
I finished Page 20 of the movie section and started on Page 21. I might’ve made it farther, but I discovered some errors I needed to correct, so that chewed up a decent chunk of my time. I also wanted to make more progress in the evening but didn’t get around to it, thanks to me recently discovering Metal Slug Attack Reloaded. The objective remains to get things done tomorrow. I’ll just have to work a little more at it. Stay tuned.
