Impressions:
It's hard to believe we've had to wait four years for the next season of AoT and we only get a half-season at that, but I suppose this means there's little fear of the anime overtaking the manga. They managed to time the division of the story well, though, bringing us at the end to one of the biggest events since Eren was first revealed to be a Titan Shifter. They give us some peeks at material that's further ahead in the story in the manga, which probably won't mean much to an anime-only viewer, but it's a nice tease for manga readers seeing some of the most recent material brought up without the context to make it mean much. This season makes some significant steps toward revealing the conspiracies at work both within and without, but it comes off as more of an appetizer if you know what the full meal looks like. I think most fans will be more than satisfied with what we get and slavering for the next season which hopefully won't take another four years.
