King Solomon's Mines (1950)

King Solomon's Mines (1950)

Director: Compton Bennett, Andrew Marton
Starring: Deborah Kerr, Stewart Granger, Richard Carlson

Synopsis:
A woman in search of her missing husband enlists the services of the famed adventurer Allan Quatermain.

Impressions:
I'm not that deeply invested in the mythos of Allan Quatermain. I saw a bit of Allan Quatermain and the Lost City of Gold as a kid and watched The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. Probably not the best way to get acquainted with the character. Well, I didn't hold that against him and seeing this adaptation, I decided to give it a shot. I've liked Stewart Granger in the movies I've seen him in and he's a major contributor to the watchability of this one. However, the movie doesn't have much to offer besides Granger and the on-location shoots. This may be enough for you, but I can hardly call this a must-see.
