Attack on Titan - Volume 7 (2012)

Author/Artist: Hajime Isayama
Publisher: KC Magazine

Synopsis:
The secret plan to capture the Female Titan seems to have succeeded, but now the Survey Corps has to figure out how to extract the person inside before the other Titans make their way into the forest.

Story/Characters:
This volume is equivalent to Episodes 20 to 22 in the TV series. Man, is this ever a rough one. Not bad, mind you, but without spoiling too much, I can say that things take a turn for the worst. Levi in particular gets built up more this time around. It's a hard time but a compelling read.

Art:
This volume delivers some of the most horrific and powerful imagery in the series thus far. Isayama has come a long way from when the series began.

Conclusion:
It seems that this series does nothing but give you a glimmer of hope before tearing out your heart and stomping it underfoot. The amazing thing is that even with this trend clearly established, I keep coming back for more.
