With the mercury going down, the mascot is taking especial pleasure in sunning herself during the midday. That has no real connection to the day's main event: Chapter 22 of Tico3. We'll see if I can get the next chapter of TTWC1 ready in time. Stay tuned.

I apologize for the delay. A mix of school, work and convalescence from my recent battle with the plague prevented me from getting this out yesterday. Getting down to the main event, the mascot is able to take life easy like this because she doesn't have to worry about her brothers coming back to haunt her. Our heroine can't say the same in Daphne's Chapter 3 of TTWC1.
In other news, my beta reader allayed my concerns about that one short I've been sitting on, so one week when I have a schedule slip, I'll give it its day in the sun. That day may be coming sooner than I think. Next week's update will be ready, but I'm going to have to buckle down to prepare for what comes after that. My buffer's just about run out. Stay tuned.

We haven't seen the mascot heading a post in a while, so here she is. She's looking rather Zen. It doesn't have anything to do with this week's chapter, but so it goes. Anyway, on to the main event, here's Chapter 20 of Tico3. Be sure to hit up the blog for the post of Union politics that'll give some context to what's going on. Other than that, we've got the debut of a significant character in next week's chapter of TTWC1. Stay tuned.

I've got a new gig that didn't look like it was going anywhere, only to take off like a shot this evening. I'm not counting on this sort of boom to be a regular thing, but I certainly don't want to count it out just yet. I mention this because I'm really friggin' tired right now and working on the update is helping me stay awake. It's been a while since I last included a header image for the weekly updates, but maybe I'll change that next week. Anyway, the main thing is the new chapter, so here's Daphne's Chapter 1 of TTWC1. Enjoy.
Next week's chapter of Tico3 is set to come out on schedule and with a little more work, I'll be adding another chapter to the buffer to have me set comfortably into December. Stay tuned.

We now transition from a slumping military genius to a sheltered princess who has to learn true leadership with Daphne's Prologue of TTWC1. In the coming chapters, you'll get to see what goes on in Zephyr while the invasion force is fighting in the Darklands. That may interest you. You'll also eventually encounter a character you may have seen before somewhere else under a different name, a person who may just be the hinge for this entire cycle of the Tellus Arc.
In other news, I guess I need to buckle down and focus on finishing up Chapter 19 of Tico3 so it's ready for next week. I don't see any reason why it might be delayed, so keep your eyes peeled next Wednesday. Stay tuned.

I planned on this being a Wednesday release, but I was kept busy. Considering my largely nocturnal schedule I should really just plan to make these updates the day before I want them released so they actually get released on that day. (There are some weird things to do with my relative perception of time, not considering the next day to have started until after I've slept, even though I technically don't tend to go to bed until well into the early morning of the next day. Add in the fact that I run the site on Zulu time but my perception is tied to the fact that I started doing this stuff when I was in Japan and you get a person who can scarcely tell up from down.) My temporal challenges have nothing to do with the plot of Chapter 18 of Tico3. The Battle of Mars continues as the planetside ground campaign kicks into gear. In other news, get ready for a new character's section in TTWC1 next week. Stay tuned.

I really need to be heading out the door, but I wanted to get this out first. Here's Cronos' Epilogue of TTWC1. Our time with Cronos draws to a close and in two weeks we'll be resuming this story with Princess Daphne. I have enough lead time that I should get the next chapter of Tico3 out on time. Stay tuned.

I was thinking I could get this out earlier than I did, but what else is new with me and this site? The mascot's expression is a good fit for the tense standoff you'll find in Chapter 17 of Tico3. No rest for the weary, that's for sure. Speaking of which, I can happily state that next week's update will be much easier to get together and I can pretty well guarantee a Wednesday release. I'll then have a bit of a buffer on TTWC1 because I already have a decent chunk of Daphne's section already done. I've got a new gig set to start up next week, so I may find that I really need that buffer. At least one story should be okay for the next month. How will things pan out? Who knows? Stay tuned.

The Zephyrian Third Legion doesn't have this face to boost their morale, so they're going to have to look for other means of lifting their spirits in the hellscape of the Darklands. Our friend the Duke does what he can in Cronos' Chapter 5 of TTWC1. In two weeks we'll be wrapping up his story. Before that, though, we need to check back on the situation on Mars in the next chapter of Tico3. Stay tuned.

I'd like to believe Mascot Monday is't being reduced to a monthly feature, but that may well be the case. Anyway, in Volume 29: "Next Generation Cato", I reveal the origins of the mascot's name and the ironic turn it takes as the junior mascot's training continues.
In other news, I'm back on schedule story-wise. Ahead of schedule, in fact. You can expect the next chapter of TTWC1 on Wednesday. Stay tuned.

From a secure location known only as 'The Box', the mascot runs her operations to keep America safe and secure. It's been a while since she had a header and it was high time I did something about it. Here's Chapter 16 of Tico3 for your reading pleasure. Yes, I know it's late, but at least I got it out this week. Right as I was starting to get things back on track, too. Well, maybe I can turn things around next week. Stay tuned.

I suppose it's just as well that I was so busy that I had to delay the update until today. Here's Cronos' Chapter 4 of TTWC1. Just two more chapters and we'll be moving on to the next character. Hopefully everything will be on track for the next chapter of Tico3 next week, but I haven't really started yet, so I'm not sure how big of a task it's going to be. I don't think it'll be too bad, though. Stay tuned.

This is a little late, but we're starting to get ourselves reoriented with the normal schedule. Here's Chapter 15 of Tico3. The Shellies have broken through the Outer Rim and the Battle of Mars is kicking into full swing. The ride's not going to stop until the book is done. Strap yourselves in, boys and girls.
I've got some irons in the fire, but I can't say yet how they might impact the schedule. For now, I'll try to see that the next chapter of TTWC1 gets out on time. Will it happen? Who knows? Stay tuned.

Yes, I know it's late, but I still managed to get it out before the end of the week, giving us our final update of the month. Here's Cronos' Chapter 3 of TTWC1. Coming at the tail end of the week, perhaps it won't be so bad if you have to wait until the Wednesday after next for Chapter 15 of Tico3. I'll try to come up with something to tide you over until then, even if it only amounts to a couple more commentary posts on the blog. Stay tuned.

Don't let those large friendly eyes fool you. You're looking at a white and fuzzy, stubby-tailed destroyer of productivity who's been trying to derail today's update with her piercing stare, tail-swishing and of course the incessant meowing. However, I was able to soldier on to bring you Chapter 14 of Tico3. Classes start next Monday, so we'll see if I can stay on top of things and get the next chapter of TTWC1 out on schedule. It's been dang near a month, but I've finally gotten around to bringing you a new ep of Mascot Monday. In Volume 28: "進撃のオリヴィア", we see the junior mascot unleash her combat potential on my hand and then turn those skills against her sempai. The fur-flying antics have only just begun.
I'm making good progress on the latest chapter of Tico3, so you can safely expect to see that Wednesday or Thursday. Stay tuned.

If you've been following the blog, you're familiar with my trials and travails working on the latest chapter of TTWC1. It won't be ready until next week, but in the meantime, I do have something new for you so this week isn't a total wash: a new teaser. I present to you Spotty Dog in Hell. Remember those fine folks from Chapter 13 of Tico3? Well, imagine, if you will, that instead of being blasted into tiny irradiated chunks, they and their ship were transported to Hell. Anyone remember old-school DOOM? (Don't even talk to me about DOOM 3.) Well, think along those lines. A 60-year-old rustbucket, 23 sailors of the Orbital Guard and three smugglers against the denizens of the Lake of Fire. Is there a way out? Stay tuned.

The gaiden has concluded, so now we return to the main series of Mascot Monday with Volume 27: "The Rigorous Training of a Junior Mascot". Olivia is now an official member of the cast at this point, though she's still in training for her eventual rise to junior mascot. Ayame takes on the role of the aloof mentor, but how long will that detached facade hold?
In other news, the next chapter of TTWC1 will be up on Wednesday. I've just about used up my buffer, so I'm really going to have to buckle down and get some writing done. Stay tuned.

In a bid to expand regular updates beyond weekly cat videos, I've just started the Palidor Media Blog. I plan on posting daily to keep you all better apprised of my progress and to occasionally comment on things that need a little more time and space than the 140-character limit of Twitter provides. The current look of the blog is tentative and I imagine I'll be making a number of tweaks in the days and weeks to come.

As the lore of a series builds, you want to explore the world beyond the scope of the main narrative. And that brings us to a new miniseries, Mascot Monday Gaiden. Our protagonist for this sidestory is the junior mascot. We start about as close to the beginning of her character arc as you can get in Volume 1: "We Got Kittens!" The longer telling of the tale can be found in the Youtube description.

You're probably wondering just what in the hay is going on in this pic. Well, it started one day during a lecture. I don't know what started it, but we were discussing the Harry Potter franchise and I mentioned that if I were J.K. Rowling, I would've followed up with a seven-book series chronicling Tom Riddle's time at Hogwart's. My kiddos thought I should go ahead and write it, but I'm sure that wouldn't go over too well with Ms. Rowling's lawyers and I don't imagine I'd get a license to write deuterocanon (unless she would opt to build an EU a la Star Wars). Anyway, when I see an idea that intrigues me and it doesn't pan out, I tend to get the inclination to make my own story to execute that idea. No, I'm not going to tell the tale of Rom Tiddle, but I did get the idea for an If Arc series that takes the Tico cast and puts them in a school of magic. It was months ago that I jotted down the basic premise, lining up each of the four branches of services with houses of the school (and it's a happy coincidence that my directions to Kazuya put two charas from each house together). Last week I got the notion to develop the idea further and I've been busy with that. That leads us to today's update, a fresh batch of teasers for Ticonderoga School of Magic - Book 1: Ally O'Connor and the Devil Dancers, Ticonderoga School of Magic - Book 2: Ally O'Connor and the Third Heaven Cult, and Ticonderoga School of Magic - Book 3: Ally O'Connor and the Gates of Hell. Basically, imagine the first three books of the Tico series as retold in a world of fantasy rather than scifi. This may or may not preclude a cameo by the students of Ticonderoga Shougyou Koutou Gakkou in Student of Gladius. ^_^
In other news, I hope to have the next chapter of Tico3 ready next week, but I won't swear to it. Stay tuned.

It's been two months since the last chapter, but here's Xanthe's Chapter 4 of TTWC1. In several hours I'll be back with a Mascot Monday post.
While I haven't made the sort of headway I should've on the things I'm paid for and the things I'm paying for, I did do quite a bit of writing. In a surprise flurry of inspiration, I've already gotten 10K into the Cross Arc's Junker Jorg. If only I could do the same with some of the less high-profile stories in production at the moment. I haven't even started on the next chapter of Tico3, so I won't make any speculations on the next update at the moment. Maybe I'll go ahead and share some of this Junker Jorg. We'll see. Stay tuned.

Well, I've finished updating KoG1, so maybe I'll get off my keister and get some querying done. I've also whipped up another teaser, the Tellus Arc story The Shadow of the Morning Star. This is actually one of my older stories, but I've only recently sorted out some issues that were keeping me from putting it up for display. I have this one in the Other Stories, but it actually ties together most of the cycles in the Tellus Arc. Enjoy.

When you think about it, this pile of fur the junior mascot has found is like a teaser for the mascot herself. If you can do those mental gymnastics and not pull a muscle, then I've got you in the mood for a veritable boatload of teasers. For the Tellus Arc, we have The Boy King's Madness and The Song of the Eight Stars. For the Earth Arc, we have It's a Sunny Day for a Bank Job. The Cross Arc gets Nagareboshi Ten'nyo and the If Arc welcomes The Ticonderoga Mutiny and "The Dragon Lady's Dark Secret". You may be asking, "How on earth do you expect to finish all these stories in your lifetime?" That depends entirely on how long I wind up living. Of course, so long as the inspiration keeps on coming, I'll always have a sizable backlog of titles in preproduction. Shoot, you should see my running list of ideas that haven't made it to the preproduction level. I've always got that to look to as well.
Anyway, I'm still slowly but surely making my way through KoG1. I'll let you know when I'm done because I'm updating the version of the story that's on the site as I go as well. Right now I have up to Chapter 4 and I'll probably wait until I get a few more chapters done before I update some more. This might cause a bit of a disconnect for new readers, but I don't think I have that much traffic to worry about. Anyway, enjoy the new teasers and hopefully I can have a new chapter up within the next three weeks. (Spring break starts the 11th and I've got some other projects that I should really be focusing on until then.) Stay tuned.

Well, a month and some change is still better turnaround than the last gap between chapters. The mascot is bound to wake up to something more pleasant than what you'll find in Chapter 7 of Tico3. Pretty heavy stuff.
There's a lot competing for my attention at the moment, so I'm not going to promise another chapter, either from Tico3 or TTWC1, anytime too soon. Maybe two or three weeks. I'm currently wanting to go back over KoG1 before I make some new queries. And that doesn't even touch on all the other stuff that's got me hopping. I'll try to get those teasers out next week at least and maybe an ep of Mascot Monday will come out tomorrow. Stay tuned.

Well, it's been six years. Kinda hard to believe, isn't it? You might be looking at the pic here and wondering, "Who's this bishounen Joker?" Well, the color scheme is purely coincidental... maybe. This is Giger Taus, the main character of the Cross Arc story, Everyday Magic. I have the prologue here for your reading pleasure. I have some big hopes for this story, but I can't say when the next chapter will be out.
Looking out at this year, I expect to continue on Tico3 and TTWC1 and I might sprinkle in bits of other stories as well. There might be some interesting things from Kazuya as well. I'm doing my annual out-and-abouting for the holiday season and as you can see, the mascot tried to be a fuzzy little stowaway. (It didn't work.) Now, it's ironic that the update that got bumped from the front page was the one for Chapter 5 of Tico3, in which I said I'd have Chapter 6 out in two weeks... back in July. Well, I suppose it's par for course. Without my kiddos' work getting in the way, I've slowly been able to build back my productivity and at long last have Chapter 6 of Tico3 ready for you. I'm going to try to get the next chapter of TTWC1 out next week, but I don't know if Chapter 7 will follow as promptly. We'll see.
