Glengarry Glen Ross (1992)

Director: James Foley
Starring: Al Pacino, Jack Lemmon, Alec Baldwin
Synopsis:
A monthly sales contest for down-and-out real estate agents will end with one of them losing their job.
Impressions:
Put some of the most intense actors in Hollywood together and watch the fireworks. If you've seen other film adaptations of plays, you'll understand the boxed-in feel and limited cast, but, dang, is this ever rewarding. I can't praise the cast enough. Al Pacino and Ed Harris bring the heat as you'd expect, but I was surprised as how well Jack Lemmon took to the role of a coarse, angry salesman swearing like a sailor. Kevin Spacey's character is more muted, but it's a subtle and effective performance and Alan Arkin is amusing as the sad sack Aaronow. And let's not forget Alec Baldwin's one-scene wonder. It's a harsh film but an outstanding one that relies entirely on acting to deliver. If you're a serious film buff, you'll want this one in your collection.
