Divergent (2014)

Director: Neil Burger
Starring: Shailene Woodley, Theo James, Kate Winslet
Synopsis:
In a society where the people are divided into factions based on their primary virtues, a girl finds out that she falls outside the norm and will be hunted for it.
Impressions:
Of the three big franchises of the recent YA wave, I would say that this is the weakest of them. Depending on your tolerance, you may find it downright unwatchable, but I think it's decent enough. I personally don't feel that invested in the story or characters, but I don't feel the need to turn it off. Shailene Woodley and Theo James work well enough as Tris and Four, but it's Kate Winslet as Jeanine who stands out for me. If you don't like these YA adaptions, avoid it. Otherwise, it's a fair enough watch.
