Impressions:
Jaume Collet-Serra has a pretty solid track record when it comes to action thrillers. His films are hardly the best of the best, but they generally make for satisfying viewing for what they are. In its initial setup this plays a bit like Phone Booth, and if the villain had stayed out of view until the end, it might have leaned more on the psychological element than the more straightforward action. Make of that what you will. Taron Egerton does a good job in the lead role and it was interesting seeing Jason Bateman take on playing a serious villain. There are some nice twists and turns along the way, so I'd say most viewers will find the experience worthwhile. I almost feel as surprised at this film having the TSA take center stage as I was with Big Jim McLain and HUAC, but there you go. In the final tally, I'd say this is worth a watch.
