Darkman II: The Return of Durant (1995)

Director: Bradford May
Starring: Larry Drake, Arnold Vosloo, Kim Delaney
Synopsis:
Darkman's nemesis Robert G Durant returns from the dead and plots to exploit an experimental man-portable energy weapon.
Impressions:
Apparently crashing into an overpass in a helicopter and being engulfed in a massive fireball leaves you unscratched but comatose for a couple years. If you can buy this, then I guess the rest of the movie doesn't present much of a problem. It actually would've been interesting if Durant was left as mangled as Westlake and wanted the artificial skin technology for himself. Instead we have a plot about silly space guns. Larry Drake returning as Durant is the best part of the film (implausibility aside). Replacing Liam Neeson as Darkman, Arnold Vosloo doesn't impress. He's been good in other roles, but this one doesn't do much for him and won't do much for you either. Also, the collection of Durant's minions aren't as memorable as in the first film. It's a marked step down, but you may still find it worth watching. Take it or leave it.
