Impressions:
As you may recall, I marathoned through the Monogatari Series after its original run had been completed, so I got a lot all at once and then this drought followed. I knew about the gaiden novels and figured they would be adapted one day and that day has come. We get three stories here. Based on the first, "Tsukihi Undo", I was expecting a bunch of little one-shots, but this proved to be the exception rather than the rule, as "Nadeko Draw" and "Shinobu Mustard" are more in line with the length of previous arcs from the main story. I rather liked "Nadeko Draw" for how it helped sort things with Nadeko post-godhood and may serve to reform her in the eyes of folks who didn't like her before. I imagine many fans will prefer "Shinobu Mustard" as it has Ararararagi (kamimamita) back in the protagonist's seat and we get to explore Shinobu's past. Shaft hasn't skipped a beat in the five years since Zoku Owarimonogatari ended and I think fans of the series will be quite happy with what we get, enough to warrant a place in the collection, I'd say.
