[ç•°ä¸–ç•Œå¤±æ ¼]
Director: Shigeki Kawai
Studio: Atelier Pontdarc
Starring: Hiroshi Kamiya, Rumi Okubo, Sayumi Suzushiro
Episodes: 12
Synopsis:
When attempting double suicide, an author finds himself transported to another world, where he intends to find his missing lover or die trying.
Impressions:
Uncultured philistine that I am, I didn't know who Osamu Dazai was when I started watching this, but if you have any awareness of modern Japanese literature (or if you've watched Bungou Stray Dogs, which I started after this), then the title is your first clue who "Sensei" is supposed to be. This is a nice little aversion to your garden-variety isekai, where the otherworlders are a menace drunk on their power and our supposed hero is the poison pill to solve the problem. I like how Sensei is physically unimposing yet able to cow others by his fearlessness, nay, his eagerness for death, all delivered beautifully in a deadpan performance by Hiroshi Kamiya. The humor is pretty good and we have some decent character work for the supporting cast. I rather enjoyed this and recommend giving it a watch.
