Impressions:
The last of the Universal Monsters, the Creature from the Black Lagoon has been on my mind since I was in elementary school and I was constantly reading and rereading this book I had about horror movies. It's a wonder it's taken me this long to see it. The core story is a fairly standard creature feature with some decent interpersonal conflict between the lead males. There's some great underwater work and I particularly want to credit Ricou Browning for doing the underwater work as the Gill-man. Speaking of the Gill-man, I really like the design and it's one of the iconic cinema monsters. Not all of the classic Universal horror films have clicked with me as much as I would've hoped, but I can safely say this one is worth a watch.
