Impressions:
I can't say that the idea of an isekai Suicide Squad had me on the edge of my seat in anticipation, but I was willing to give it a shot. The fact that this was made by Wit Studio was a major point in its favor and I was willing to give it a shot. The basic plot is surprisingly similar to James Gunn's The Suicide Squad, only taking place in a magical fantasy land instead of South America. While I found Yuichiro Umehara miscast as Joker (whose design was arguably worse than Jared Leto's Hot Topic Joker), I loved having Jun Fukuyama and Takehito Koyasu hamming it up as Clayface and Peacemaker. Not all the humor lands, but for me at least, it works more often than not. As for production values, there are some occasional hiccups, likely due to either budget or time constraints, but for the most part, things are up to the standard you'd expect from Wit Studio. The OP seems to have been designed with the attention of giving off a Cowboy Bebop vibe and the ED is glorious. (If you don't know, I'll leave that as a surprise for when you see it for the first time.) All told, I enjoyed the ride a fair bit, but I don't know how comic hardcores or general audiences will take to it. Regardless, I say it's worth a watch.
