Impressions:
Like many others, I considered Wonder Woman's brief role in Batman v. Superman to be the best part of the movie, so I was looking forward to her solo outing. When I finally did see it, I jokingly dubbed it "Wonder Woman: The First Avenger", not realizing that gag was already a thing on the Internet. There are a number of similarities with Cap's first movie and that's not really a bad thing. I like that it uses WWI, a setting we don't see as much in fiction, even if it necessarily removes Steve Trevor from the present-day DCEU. I also like that we see a much more innocent and naive Diana and I have to credit Gal Gadot for pulling it off plausibly. It'd be very easy to come off as corny but the performance feels quite genuine. Chris Pine does well as the aforementioned Steve Trevor and the Howling Commandos, er, his friends make for good backup. Now, you may have a little trouble taking the big bad seriously when he's revealed, but I didn't mind. There honestly aren't many dings I can think of against it. If Warner could make a habit of movies of this caliber, the MCU might actually have some competition. It's definitely worth giving a watch.
