Impressions:
I hadn't heard of this when it came out, but I've seen several other films by director Mamoru Hosoda and like his other films, it's one of the better Ghibliesque experiences you can get outside of Ghibli. This could have been a solid family drama in its own right, but it's the element of magical realism that makes it special. The dynamics with Ame and Yuki as they grow and develop and how it relates to their dual natures is quite interesting to watch. On a technical level it's quite good and there are some POV sequences used to good effect. This is certainly worth a watch at least, but I would say add it to your collection.
