The Mouse That Roared (1959)

The Mouse That Roared (1959)

Director: Jack Arnold
Starring: Peter Sellers, Jean Seberg, William Hartnell

Synopsis:
A tiny country declares war on the United States as a ploy to profit off postwar reconstruction, but the war goes better than planned.

Impressions:
This is a pretty funny movie in that British way. Not laugh out loud funny, mind you, but enough to maintain general bemusement throughout and a few polite chuckles. Peter Sellers performs triple duty as the Grand Duchess, Count Rupert and Tully. (He's at his best as the Grand Duchess in my opinion.) The satire is okay but it cuts more like a butter knife than a razor. It's enjoyable enough. Give it a watch.
