The Beast with Five Fingers (1946)

The Beast with Five Fingers (1946)

Director: Robert Florey
Starring: Robert Alda, Andrea King, Peter Lorre

Synopsis:
The disembodied hand of an eccentric millionaire terrorizes the people vying for his estate.

Impressions:
This would just be a movie about people bickering over an old rich man's leftovers if it wasn't for the whole idea of said rich man's hand returning from the grave to wreak vengeance on those who would interfere with his last will. It's okay, but what really gives the film a boost is Peter Lorre's performance, particularly as he grows more and more unhinged. There's some good lighting to help play up the creep factor. It takes a little bit to really get going, but if you like the idea of a murder mystery with a supernatural twist, give this one a shot.
