The Quintessential Quintuplets (2018)
[五等分の花嫁]
Volume 4
Author/Artist: Negi Haruba
Publisher: Shounen Magazine Comics
Synopsis:
Fuutarou and the quints travel together to catch up with the school field trip group.
Story/Characters:
Before arriving at the venue for the field trip, we get a night at a ryokan with Fuutarou and the girls. Now, he's already had a sleepover with them at their place in the previous volume, but there's a bit more tension here, albeit entirely on the girls' side. During the field trip itself, we get to see a different side of Nino around "Kintarou" and the development with Ichika is what secured her place at my #2 slot. At the end, we get another flash-forward to the wedding day, which teases at a bunch of future stuff.
Art:
The art continues to satisfy. There's some particularly striking imagery for the "Kintarou" stuff. I'm sure you can figure out the fanservice at the ryokan. Censor steam is putting the work in, of course. If you like snow bunnies, then the ski chapter will make you happy.
Other:
We get four 4-koma with some of the background goings-on during the field trip.
Conclusion:
The field trip capped off the first season of the TV series and it almost feels like the manga was paced like this for that very purpose. Although we still don't know how long the series will be in the end, this feels like the first act conclusion and it ends strongly. So much good stuff to be had. Get it for the collection.
