Ranma 1/2 (1995)
[らんま1/2]
Volume 32
Author/Artist: Rumiko Takahashi
Publisher: Shounen Sunday Comics
Synopsis:
Ranma is drawn into the fight between Pantyhose Tarou and a girl with an even more formidable Jusenkyou curse. Ranma is drawn into a contest between Kodachi and her childhood rival. Akane gets a gi that makes her stronger than Ranma.
Story/Characters:
I'm not a big fan of Pantyhose Tarou, so I don't have that much investment in his fight with Rouge. It is interesting seeing PT and Ranma team up, particularly given how much they don't like each other, and a total absence of Happousai is very much welcome. The contest between Kodachi and Asuka is a little funny, mostly for the ending, but also seeing another loony just like the Black Rose. The dougi story is the best of the bunch. Ranma is so shamefully petty, but I guess it's a wonder he's not worse given who raised him. It is pretty funny how "Douchan" has its own little personality and it's no fan of Ranma.
Art:
Of the three stories here, two are very action-heavy. The dougi story has some particularly good stuff, though I will say that I like Rouge's design. Kodachi's dress for the contest is also pretty nice.
Conclusion:
You've got two okay stories and one pretty good one. I'd say that's enough for this one to be worth a read.
