Ranma 1/2 (1990)
[らんま1/2]
Volume 10
Author/Artist: Rumiko Takahashi
Publisher: Shounen Sunday Comics
Synopsis:
Happousai makes trouble at the beach with an armlet encrusted with love potion pills. Mousse returns to Japan to exact revenge on Ranma. Ukyou is pursued by an old admirer.
Story/Characters:
We've got another beach episode, but now that Happousai's here, you can't enjoy it quite so much. He does get suitable comeuppance in the end, so that gets it a few points. There's some amusement to be had with the whole love potion thing. Mousse's revenge story is okay but nothing exceptional. Lastly, the Tsubasa story isn't that great either, though it is funny to see Ranma's feminine pride bruised.
Art:
The artwork is as good as ever. Obviously the beach episode provides more than the usual dose of fanservice, which might be enough for some people to overlook the presence of stupid, stupid Happousai.
Conclusion:
This volume is a touch on the lackluster side, decent enough none of these stories are among the real standouts in the series. Fans should enjoy it enough, but this isn't a must-have.
