Borderline (1950)
Director: William A Seiter
Starring: Fred MacMurray, Claire Trevor, Raymond Burr
Synopsis:
A customs agent and a cop go undercover to break up a drug smuggling ring in Mexico, unaware of each other's true identity.
Impressions:
The premise of this movie got my attention, but I was less than impressed with the finished product. There are some notables in the cast, but I was never really drawn in. The worst offense, however, comes from this musical number early in the film. It's a decent if forgettable song, except for the chorus of dancing girls' ear-piercingly squawking the refrain of "tra la la, tra la la" between verses. That's one of the main things I took away from the movie, which doesn't speak well of its memorability. If you're a completionist for the films of any of the principal actors, you may add it to your list, but otherwise there's no really compelling reason to watch it.
