Synopsis:
A commoner obsessed with magic is reborn as a prince with massive magical power and a position that allows him to refine his arts.

Impressions:
The first thing to note is that while this is a reincarnation story, it's not isekai, so that's something. Better than Kantei Skill, which is a reincarnation isekai that does almost nothing with the isekai concept. I appreciate that while Lloyd our protagonist is massively OP, this story doesn't follow the tired pattern of shallow wish fulfillment. Lloyd's only interest is magic research and anything else that happens is merely incidental. Although normally in the guise of a cloying child, when his obsession kicks into gear, he can rival demons (more than rival, as we see several times over). Now, the fact that the opening credits prominently feature an action director should get your attention and you'll see the fruits of having such a specialist on the staff. There are plenty of lovingly rendered and elaborate actions set pieces, which are more than enough to warrant the price of admission. Beyond that, though, the humor hits pretty well and the cast is rather appealing. While Lloyd himself may not be at all interested in that sort of thing, the fanservice factor is fairly high, not just the obvious sources like busty battle maid Slypha but also the suspiciously femmy Lloyd, who seems to have drawn the ire of some viewers for making them question their sexuality. There are some darker elements, especially in the last arc of the season, but it's mostly fairly lighthearted fantasy fun. It was one of the series I enjoyed most this season and I recommend giving it a watch at the very least.
