Impressions:
I love Taken. It's an amazing movie. That being said, it really feels like the vast majority of Liam Neeson's roles ever since (to include the Taken sequels) are trying to recapture that magic with diminishing returns. This movie had my attention pitting Liam Neeson against Ed Harris, but I can't say I was won over by what I got. The relationship between the the senior and junior Conlons reminded me of the belligerent relationship between John McClane and his son in Die Hard 5. I didn't really like that movie, so reminding me of it is a bad idea. (Though not as bad as reminding me of Die Hard 4.) Other people have noted the similarities to Road to Perdition, but that movie was executed better. I'd hoped for something more, but the movie didn't deliver. There are some decent set pieces, but you can find better elsewhere. I won't actively discourage anyone from seeing it, but I can't give much of an endorsement either.
