Battle at Bloody Beach (1961)
Director: Herbert Coleman
Starring: Audie Murphy, Gary Crosby, Dolores Michaels
Synopsis:
A civilian contractor with the Navy coordinates Filipino resistance to the Japanese occupation while searching for his wife.
Impressions:
The premise here is fairly interesting and I like the idea of the main character conflict in principle at least, but once the civilian baggage comes onto the scene, they drag things down more than they contribute. I wasn't particularly satisfied with the resolution either, as it felt unearned. It's not a great movie, but if you'd like to see guerrilla action in the Philippines, you might consider it.
