Red Dragon (2002)
Director: Brett Ratner
Starring: Anthony Hopkins, Edward Norton, Ralph Fiennes
Synopsis:
A former profiler for the FBI is called back in to consult on the case of a serial killer called the Tooth Fairy.
Impressions:
I'm not the biggest fan of Brett Ratner. I like some of his movies and despise some others, but I have to give him credit here. While this isn't as good as The Silence of the Lambs, it's not as silly as Hannibal and that deserves some credit. This is a solid crime thriller. Edward Norton's performance as Will Graham and Ralph Fiennes as Francis Dolarhyde are really good. I also want to note Harvey Keitel as Jack Crawford, Emily Watson as Reba McClane and Philip Seymour Hoffman as Freddy Lounds. We can't forget Anthony Hopkins as Lecter or Anthony Heald as Dr. Chilton either, whose roles are expanded from the source material due to the popularity of The Silence of the Lambs. If you felt burned by Hannibal, give this movie a shot. It's worth seeing in my book.
