Synopsis:
A teenage boy is transported into a game world, but his dreams of adventure and romance are spoiled when he discovers that his mother will be accompanying him and that she outclasses him in every way.

Story/Characters:
When I first heard the premise of the series, I was hoping it would feature the puerile wish-fulfillment fantasies of most isekai stories subverted by the mother and, by gum, that's exactly what I got. If you're the sort who likes to live vicariously through those aforementioned wish fulfillment fantasies, this series will infuriate you. If you're like me, however, this is just what the doctor ordered. It also helps that Ma-kun isn't all that horrible as a lead. Yes, he's a bit of a punky teenager, but he is at his core a good kid and he does have some excuse with how overbearingly smothering his mother is. The ideal arc for both characters is that Ma-kun will come to terms with his mom being the way she is while Mamako learns to take a step back so her son can actually stand on his own two feet and be a man. We may just end up with the status quo throughout, but that remains to be seen. We also get introduced to the first two members of the party, classic tsundere Wise and the adorable Porta. Personally, I love taking the setup for a conventional harem scenario and dousing it with Mommie Dearest being right there. I also like the self-aware humor of the game world and I guess I can be thankful for the endless piles of isekai trash for having fertilized the ground for parody.

Art:
Meicha does a decent job of adapting the style of Pochi Iida's original illustrations from the light novels, but he's not quite as good of an artist. In general, the art is fairly good, but it's nothing amazing. Sometimes the proportions can be a bit wonky, but it probably won't be too much of a problem for the average reader.

Other:
We get a short bonus chapter of Mamako preparing for the journey, postscripts from original author Dachima Inaka, Pochi, and Meicha; and some illustrations from Pochi.

Conclusion:
You may be so burned out on isekai that even deconstructions won't appeal to you. For me, at least, it's delivering exactly what I wanted from it. The cast is fairly appealing and I'm enjoying myself. Give it a read at the very least.
