Death Note (2005)
[γγΉγγΌγ]
Volume 6
Author: Tsugumi Ohba
Artist: Takeshi Obata
Publisher: Jump Comics
Synopsis:
L's team observes the Yotsuba Group in order to root out the new Kira.
Story/Characters:
Things are ramping up with the investigation into the Yotsuba Group as paranoia starts to set in. The third Kira gets revealed to the audience and I was honestly a little surprised about who it ended up being. Misa takes a more active role and we all know how that can hurt as much as it helps. There are also some good interactions in the Light-L-Misa trio. We're moving toward the endgame of this arc and the escalation works nicely.
Art:
As always, nothing but praise for Obata's work. I want to make note of a particularly effective panel when the third Kira gets the Shinigami eyes. One of the creepier shots in the series. The climax of the arc is also satisfyingly dynamic.
Conclusion:
Things come to a head in this volume and if you've been enjoying the current arc, you're bound to be pleased. Get it by all means.
