Impressions:
I don't have much exposure to the Cyberpunk franchise, but I do have some familiarity with cyberpunk in general and I did have a little interest in Cyberpunk 2077 during its development, even if I probably wasn't going to get it. Now, we all now how things went down with the game, so you could imagine that a tie-in series would be a bit of a hard sell. However, when I saw that this was being done by Trigger, that was enough to get me to check it out. You've got the usual flair you'd expect from Trigger with Hiroyuki Imaishi at the helm. If you like neon-soaked ultraviolence, you should be happy. The core is a pretty basic crime story, but the main draw is the action and the setting. We don't get a deep philosophical exploration of transhumanism or anything, but the idea of cyberpsychosis and eroding humanity do provide a little food for thought. This being a dystopia, it can be rather bleak and nihilistic, which may not be your thing, but for people with a taste for cyberpunk, this is well worth a watch.
