Synopsis:
The schools of Academy City come together to compete in the Daihasei Sports Festival, but there is a plot targeting the Level 5 espers behind the scenes.

Impressions:
Because of the two-month gap midway in the season and the fact that there's a clear divide between the two arcs of the story, it feels more like I saw two separate seasons rather than one. The Sports Festival Arc has the novelty of a psychic take on the typical Japanese school sports festival that segues into, you guessed it, another sketchy plot by crooked scientists who've never heard of bioethics. In particular, we get some development for rival Level 5 Misaki Shokuhou. In the Indian Poker Arc, we ease in with shenanigans revolving around the eponymous Indian Poker that then leads us to... yes, a sketchy plot by crooked scientists who've never heard of bioethics. There is some exploration into the nature of humanity and we see the Scavengers redeem themselves a bit after having been stomped by Accelerator in his series. There are a number of creative action set pieces throughout and the big showdown with Doppelganger is particularly impressive. If you're a fan of the series, there's more than enough to make you happy. Definitely give this a watch.
