Impressions:
I knew what I was getting into with this movie without even without looking into it. Like many of the other horror remakes around this time, this is a joyless affair, trying hard to be serious but making most of the characters be thoroughly unsympathetic so they can be killed off guilt-free. Clay is decent as the lead but there's not that much to chew on. The kills aren't anything spectacular either, but I will credit the effects for being pretty good. I don't know if this will appeal to longtime fans of the franchise, but if you like the tone of mid- to late-Aughts horror, you might appreciate it. In appreciation for the craft being solid, I'll say take it or leave it.
