Corruption (1968)
Director: Robert Hartford-Davis
Starring: Peter Cushing, Sue Lloyd, Noel Trevarthen
Synopsis:
A surgeon uses an experimental technique to restore his burn-scarred girlfriend's face, but to preserve her beauty, he must resort to murder.
Impressions:
I don't really like the 60s. Early in the movie, a very discomfitted Peter Cushing is at this wild 60s party with this look that just screams "Get me the Foxtrot out of here." I can sympathize. We get some obsessive intensity out of Cushing, who's the main reason I chose to watch the movie in the first place. Sue Lloyd develops a Lady Macbeth thing which makes for a good character dynamic. The climax is absolutely insane, crazy enough that I'd actually give the whole movie a bit of a nudge. It's definitely not a cinema masterpiece, but if you like grindhouse horror, you may enjoy it.
