Catlow (1971)
Director: Sam Wanamaker
Starring: Yul Brynner, Richard Crenna, Leonard Nimoy
Synopsis:
A US marshal and a hired gun hunt a cattle rustler plotting a gold robbery.
Impressions:
While not highly acclaimed, this is a pretty fun little Western. It wouldn't be particularly remarkable if it wasn't for Richard Crenna and Yul Brynner's chemistry and Leonard Nimoy's role as the hired gun Miller (one of his big Spock-busting roles). Yul Brynner is really fun as the devil-may-care title character. Daliah Lavi isn't bad either as Catlow's spitfire girlfriend. I didn't expect to see quite so much of Leonard Nimoy, but for those of you in the audience who are curious, well, there you go. It's not high art, but it's a fun ride. Give it a watch.
