Battle School
A once brutal and warmongering nation has abandoned the ways of war, but when it is invaded by an old enemy, its much-weakened military is quickly routed and in desperation it resorts to universal conscription in a last-ditch effort to defend the homeland. Everyone, male and female alike, from ages 15 to 65 is drafted into makeshift regiments and promptly thrown into the meat grinder. A foreign teacher chooses to stay behind when his government orders an evacuation and condemns himself to share in the fate of his students and his colleagues.
