Tomo-chan Is a Girl! (2023)
[トモちゃんは女の子!]
Director: Hitoshi Nanba
Studio: Lay-duce
Starring: Rie Takahashi, Kaito Ishikawa, Rina Hidaka
Episodes: 13
Synopsis:
A rough-and-tumble tomboy tries to explore her girly side in a bid to win over her childhood friend.
Impressions:
When I first say the initial premise set up, I figured this would be amusing enough, a tomboy trying to appeal to a dense friend who only sees her as one of the guys. However, we quickly come to see that Jun is not so oblivious after all and that was when the story really grabbed my interest. With gloomy Misuzu and ditzy Carol pulling strings behind the scenes, we get a rather enjoyable romcom. I would have never imagined Rie Takahashi was the one voicing Tomo and proves that she's got a wider range than I thought. (Her singing the ED in character is a particular treat.) I had a lot of fun with this and heartily recommend giving it a watch.
