The Executioner and Her Way of Life (2022)

Synopsis:

Impressions:
For people who have gotten sick of the ordinary isekai trash, a story about people who dedicate themselves to killing people who get isekaied has some appeal. (However, some of the anger over the first episode revealed that what I hate about isekai trash is exactly what a lot of people like, which explains why we keep on getting isekai trash. -_- ) Anyway, I like the setting with the tensions between the Church and the nobility with Otherworlders used as pawns to affect the balance of power. I also like how dangerous Otherworlders' powers are and the way the degrade the users' minds as their power grows. There is quite the yuri vibe, which may or may not add to the appeal for you. The relationship between Menou and her partner Momo reminds me a lot of Misaka and Kuroko from A Certain Scientific Railgun and the belligerent sexual tension between Momo and Princess Ashuna is fun to watch. As for our deuteragonist Akari, her usual act as a clingy ditz may well annoy, but she definitely sparked my interest when the mask dropped. All told, I found this to be a solid story and would gladly come back for a continuation. Give it a watch at the very least if you want an aversion to your everyday isekai.
