Synopsis:
A former clerk for the adventurers' guild undergoes hellish training under the tutelage of the strongest adventuring party to realize his dream of becoming an adventurer in his own right.
Impressions:
So we had two series with an obliviously strong MC this season and it seems like either one hits with audiences or the other but not both (and maybe neither). I wasn't terribly enthused for either at first, though I preferred the character designs in I Parry Everything, but once this series' MC Rick came to realize his own strength shortly in, I came to enjoy this one a bit more. There's a little more depth to the characterization here and the humor generally lands more (at least in my estimation). As I mentioned before, I wasn't as big of a fan of the character designs here, compared to I Parry Everything and Yumeta Company is not quite on the same level of OLM, but they do a fair enough job. It's not an amazing series, but it get a bit of edge over I Parry Everything, just enough to earn a higher rating. (Though I don't know how much I like someone in his early 30s being considered an "ossan".)
