Synopsis:
A paranormal investigator invites a hanyo child to join his detective agency.

Impressions:
I decided to check this out on a whim and I'm quite glad I did. I like stories about youkai (dubbed "kemono" here) and it's particularly interesting when such stories are woven into a modern setting. What really makes this something special is the characters and how they interact with each other. Kabane's general lack of emotion and common sense makes for some great deadpan comedy and plays off the other characters in fun and interesting ways. We get nice mini-arcs for Shiki and Akira to round out this season as a nice opener for the larger story. I enjoyed myself quite a bit and can easily recommend adding it to your collection.
