Impressions:
I'd seen the manga for this series in the bookstores and it had my curiosity, but I didn't look into it further until this series came out. The idea of a man becoming a kaijuu to fight kaijuu for the sake of a humanity that will regard him with suspicion at best if not outright hatred is fertile ground for a story (and as I write it, I realize the premise isn't all that different from Attack on Titan, so here's to hoping Kafka doesn't go off the deep end like Eren did). I quickly latched on to the dynamic between Kafka and Ichikawa (and later Kafka and Kikoru), which expanded into me enjoying the character dynamics in general. Now, you're probably expecting big action set pieces and you'd be right to do so. The show delivers abundantly on that front with some amazing spectacle and we're only getting warmed up. I found it to be an enjoyable ride and I'm looking forward to the continuation. In the meantime, I recommend this for your collection.
