Impressions:
I saw this as a new listing and the premise intrigued me, so I decided to check it out. This is a good classic-style scifi story with some ethical conundrums and existential angst for the audience to chew on. The small cast keeps things focused and the characters are fairly well realized. Some of the twists and turns are a bit out there, but if your suspension of disbelief can take it, you should have a decent experience. Yoshitaka Amano has done a lot of character design work, but rarely does his very distinctive style get translated to the screen. This is probably the closest I've ever seen his style adapted, but it might be a little too much for some people. As the designs are, as I said, very distinctive, you might have trouble accepting that these people are professionals selected for their technical skills for a space mission and not the party members of an old-school Final Fantasy. The fact that this is 3-D and the animation can be a bit janky will also impact its broader appeal. However, if you can look past that, I would say this is certainly worth watching, so give it a shot.
