Impressions:
I just saw "dekiru neko" in the title and had to check this out. I didn't know what to expect, so needless to say, a giant feline housekeeper exasperated by his lazy owner wouldn't have been my first guess. The premise is similar to the classic Japanese folktale of "Tsuru no Ongaeshi", a "Neko no Ongaeshi" if you will (not to be confused with the Ghibli film of the same name). We have our main character's double life as a model employee at work and a total lost cause at home, and then there's Yuukichi, who always seems resentful and at his wit's end until a well-timed compliment convinces him to stick with it. Some effort is made to hide Yuukichi from the world, but he still goes out to run errands and such, so you have a blend of people who actually do just accept him for what he is and those who just try to write him off as a weirdo in a costume. Anyway, Saku and Yuukichi's antics are more than enough to keep you entertained. Now, as for the studio behind this production, it seems that opinions are mixed about GoHands. If you find their signature style excessive, you'll be pleased to know that they're fairly restrained here outside of the OP. Things look great either way and maybe it's mostly the ailurophile in me talking, but this was one of my favorite shows of the season and I would gladly recommend it for a place in your collection.
