Haganai NEXT (2013)
[εγ―ειγε°γͺγNEXT]
Director: Toru Kitahata
Studio: AIC Build
Starring: Ryohei Kimura, Marina Inoue, Kanae Ito
Episodes: 12
Synopsis:
The Neighbors Club continues to flounder about in their efforts to learn how to make friends.
Impressions:
If you like the first season's format of random slice-of-life humor, then you may not like this as much with its greater focus on the developing relationships among the club members and all the tension that creates. If you were actually wanting character development, then we do get that. How much you like the direction of that development is an open question. Rika actually becomes a rather compelling character as she grows out of being primarily comic relief. We see some promising steps toward making Yozora more likable, but the season runs out before the most can be made of it. With no sign of a third season in the offing, you'll probably find the conclusion unsatisfying (but from what I understand, a lot of fans aren't happy with the ending in the source either). As with the first season, it's a mixed bag that may or may not do it for you. If you're invested in the characters, go on and give this a watch.
