Synopsis:
While Cersei sits on the Iron Throne and Jon Snow has been acclaimed King in the North, Danaerys and her armies arrive in Westeros, but the true threat lies beyond the Wall, as the Night King advances southward.

Impressions:
Thank the old gods and the new. Dany is finally out of Essos. I'm still not all that jazzed that she's set up to be the ultimate winner of the game, but there's some potential with her alliance with Jon Snow, as rocky as it starts. Some of the developments in the story seem to be specific responses to fan complaints. It tells you just how badly they botched the Dorne plotline (not that it's much better in the books) when the show has me rooting for Euron Greyjoy of all people. Now, there are some complaints of character derailment and the development of Jon's relationship with Dany isn't handled all that well, but overall I didn't mind too much myself. Arya gets some rather nice moments and the expedition north of the Wall provides a great opportunity for character interactions we've never gotten before. You can really feel that the writers are trying to pick up as many loose ends as possible for the finale. There are some impressive large-scale battle sequences which lay the groundwork for what I can only hope will be a memorable rendering of the final confrontation. I won't say this season is perfect, but as someone who was harboring doubts about the story both on and off the screen, I was satisfied well enough with what I got. It's worth a watch at the very least.
