Impressions:
One of the first things you'll notice this season is a significant art bump now that the crew has switched from Poser to Maya for animation. The new models look great and production values have gone up quite a bit. By splitting up the core team, we get more individual attention for our lead quartet, but it feels like less screentime because it's divided four ways (though having Jaune, Ren and Nora with Ruby raises their profile a bit). Regardless, there's some good character development. We also get to see the top tier on the villains' side and move along toward whatever the big plan is. While we get the good action scenes that are the signature of the series, there seemed to be a bit less of an action focus, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. I would call this season more on the introspective side and I look forward to seeing where the story goes next. This one belongs in the collection.
