The Highwaymen (2019)
Director: John Lee Hancock
Starring: Kevin Costner, Woody Harrelson, Kathy Bates
Synopsis:
Two former Texas Rangers are called back into service to assist with the manhunt for Bonnie and Clyde.
Impressions:
Most movies about Bonnie and Clyde focus on the couple themselves, so it was interesting to follow the story from the perspective of Texas Ranger Frank Hamer. We get to see old-fashioned detective work and themes of someone past their prime riding out for one last hurrah and dealing with the demons of their past. When I was younger, The Untouchables spurred an interest in this particular period of American history, so that was something I enjoyed. Kevin Costner and Woody Harrelson do well in the roles of Hamer and Gault. If you're a fan of the cast members or the subject matter, you should find this to be a worthwhile watch.
