Impressions:
I saw a trailer for this movie and it caught my interest, so when I had the opportunity to see it on one of my transpacific voyages, I did. I like heist movies. The trick to a good heist movie is for the heist itself to be interesting and the characters running the heist to be colorful and appealing. Director Steven Soderbergh already has established credentials with his Ocean's series and here we get "Ocean's 7-11" as it's called in-universe. I was looking for an opportunity to see Adam Driver as something other than Kylo Ren (wouldn't want to pigeonhole the guy) and I was amused to see Daniel Craig playing a hillbilly explosives expert. I'm normally not that big of a Channing Tatum fan, but he was good here and I liked Jimmy's relationship with his daughter. (It reminded me a bit of Ant-Man. The setup is cliché, yes, but I didn't mind.) It's a fun little movie. The third act drags a bit, but the payoff is worth it. Definitely worth a watch.
