Django Unchained (2012)

Django Unchained (2012)

Director: Quentin Tarantino
Starring: Jamie Foxx, Christoph Waltz, Leonardo DiCaprio

Synopsis:
A freed slave looks save his wife with the help of a German dentist/bounty hunter.

Impressions:
Tarantino's love of Spaghetti Westerns has pervaded his recent films like Kill Bill and Inglourious Basterds, so I suppose it should come as little surprise that he would actually do a Western. While this can be a difficult watch at times due to Tarantino's trademark brutality, his other trademarks of witty dialog and high entertainment value also hold. Jamie Foxx is a good action protagonist, Christoph Waltz is as much of a joy here as he was in Inglourious Basterds, and Leonardo DiCaprio does a fine job as the vile Calvin Candie. I also want to give a nod to Samuel L Jackson's performance and Don Johnson's smaller role (mainly for the funny sequence with his posse). If you're a Tarantino fan, this movie will fit like a glove. If you haven't yet been initiated into the rite of blood, fire and F-bombs, then you may want to tread lightly if you're of a more delicate constitution.
