Absolutely Anything (2015)
Director: Terry Jones
Starring: Simon Pegg, Kate Beckinsale, Sanjeev Bhaskar
Synopsis:
A council of omnipotent aliens empower a schoolteacher with unlimited powers as a way to test humanity's worthiness.
Impressions:
A lot of people call this a Bruce Almighty knockoff and that's definitely how it feels, but supposedly the original screenplay preceded that film by nearly ten years. That isn't going to do anything to change perceptions. Neither film is particularly great, but I'd say the comedy in this film appeals to me more. (Having Simon Pegg in the lead and featuring the surviving Pythons no doubt contribute to this). Robin Williams voices the dog Dennis in his final role, so that alone might be reason enough for some people to want to check it out. It feels like most post-Python films, decent but not hitting the same comedic heights the Pythons managed in their prime. It's worth a watch at least.
