Impressions:
I'll admit that the trailers managed to pique my interest back in the day, but I didn't follow up on it until recently. I don't really like the character design, but on a technical level, this is a well-crafted film (and on both fronts, it's a vast improvement on The Polar Express, so all due credit to the animation studio for that). It's the writing that kicks this up a notch. There's good humor and some decent feels. Being released under the Amblin label, it very much feels like it belongs in the company of films like E.T. and The Goonies. Steven Spielberg and Robert Zemeckis are just executive producers on this, but if you like the kind of movies these directors put out in the 80's, then you'll like this. Give it a watch.
