Impressions:
I didn't pay too much attention to this when it came out. I tend to be picky about CG animated features and this one didn't quite drawn me in. However, giving it a shot, I have to admit that it's pretty good. On a technical and aesthetic level, it doesn't quite match up to the output of, say, Pixar or DreamWorks, but it's nevertheless appealing enough and there's actually a fairly well-written story. Director/writers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller would go on to do even better with The Lego Movie, but their talent shows through here as well. The humor isn't bad, the dialog is pretty good and I particularly liked the theme of father-son relationships that pervades the film. You can certainly do worse for family fare, so by all means, consider giving this one a shot.
